A Note From FPC's New Acting Organist Thank you for the warm welcome I have received since joining the staff of Fairfax Presbyterian Church as Acting Organist. Being from a Presbyterian background, it is especially meaningful for me to be back in your midst. I am originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where I was a member of First Presbyterian, a large, 3,000 member, downtown church with a “cradle to grave” choir program and a beautiful Austin organ. Although my educational and work experiences have taken me to many parts of the country as well as Europe, I still consider First Presbyterian my “home church” and I greatly value my Presbyterian roots! My responsibilities at FPC include accompanying the Sanctuary Choir and playing for both morning worship services as well as directing the Chapel Choir (grades 2-5). The Chapel Choir is planning to sing for worship during Advent and again on Christmas Eve at the 4:30 p.m. service. While we have begun rehearsals in earnest on this music, there is still time to “get on board.” We welcome new members and meet on Sunday afternoon from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Dinner is available for a nominal fee at 5:30 p.m. Come help us make a “joyful noise” this Advent and Christmas season. If you have questions, please contact me at donnakaywhited@aol.com. Soli Deo Gloria, Dr. Donna Whited Acting Organist, Fairfax Presbyterian Church |
