Prayers
and Thoughts for Reflection
There
are hands that help and comfort,
Have
patience with all things, But, first of all with yourself. The
strongest of all warriors are these two – time and patience. Patience:
A minor form of despair disguised as a virtue. Experience
has taught me this, that we undo ourselves by impatience. Misfortunes
have their life and their limits, their sickness and their health.
One
moment of patience may ward off great disaster. One moment of impatience
may ruin a whole life. Patience
and time do more than strength or passion. Patience
is also a form of action. Endurance
is patience concentrated. Patience
is passion tamed. A
man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an
offense. Show me thy ways, O Lord, teach me thy paths. Lead me in
thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on
thee do I wait all the day. Amen. Patience
and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear
and obstacles vanish. Adopt
the pace of nature: her secret is patience. The
sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too
impatient. To dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed,
but lack of faith. Patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches.
Patience and faith, one should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach
– waiting for a gift from the sea. When
clouds form in the skies we know that rain will follow, but we must
wait for it. Patience
is the ability to count down before you blast off. All
human wisdom is summed up in two words – wait and hope. Infinite
patience brings immediate results. Have
patience. All things are difficult before they become easy. A
man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an
offense. Patience
is the companion of wisdom. Patience
and fortitude conquer all things. For
everything there is a season, The
secret of patience is doing something else in the meantime. Follow
your heart, but be quiet for a while first. Ask questions, then feel
the answer. Learn to trust your heart. Patience
with others is love. Let
nothing disturb thee; Let nothing dismay thee; All things pass; God
never changes. Patience attains all that it strives for. He who has
God finds he lacks nothing; God alone suffices. The
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there
is no law. The
chemist who can extract from his heart’s elements compassion,
respect, longing, patience, regret, surprise, and forgiveness and
compound them into one can create that atom which is called love. Patience
serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold.
For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have
no power to hurt you. So in like manner, you must grow in patience
when you meet with great wrongs, and they will then be powerless to
vex your mind. Have
courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small
ones. And when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task,
go to sleep in Peace. God is awake. But
thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness,
godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. If
we begin with certainities, we shall end in doubts; but if we begin
with doubts, and we are patient in them, we shall end in certainities. I
am personally convinced that one person can be a change catalyst,
a transformer in any situation, any organization. Such an individual
is yeast that can leaven an entire loaf. It requires vision, initiative,
patience, respect, persistence, courage, and faith to be a transforming
leader. The
keys to patience are acceptance and faith. Accept things as they are,
and look realistically at the world around you. Have faith in yourself
and in the direction you have chosen. Dear Lord, thank you for guiding me through the problems of the day. Help me to see the light in the darkness. Grant me understanding. Let me never be afraid of endings or beginnings. I will try to add patience to the changes in my life, but I need your help. Warm my heart, soften my rigid walls, bend my pride and open my eyes and ears. Bless me with patience not only in my speaking, but in my doing. When I am in the shadows or eager to charge ahead, grant me wisdom and help me to scatter patience and calm. Remind me that it is okay to sit and listen – to wait. Help me to see that patience is a gift not only to me, but to be shared with others. I thank you for your gentle guidance - knowing that you will lead me safely through all things, but I must be patient. Remind me that you are at work within me and around me. Help me to be trusting - to do it your way and in your time. Amen. Always
remember you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion
to reach for the stars to change the world. Lord,
hold our troops in your loving hands. You
go no where by accident.
